Is MiniPx really free?
Yes, with no hidden costs and no signup. Compression, conversion and resizing are unlimited, and compression output is never watermarked. Three limits worth naming plainly: the free tier compresses 5 files per batch (Pro removes the cap), the three on-device AI tools (background remover, upscaler, passport photo maker) share 2 free runs between them before a cooldown starts, and free AI output carries a small watermark. On resolution, 1080px is an output cap for the background remover and passport photos, but an input cap on the upscaler — so a free 4x upscale still reaches 4320px. Pro lifts all three. The four Cloud HD tools — restore, colorize, enhance and remove an object — run on our server and are Pro-only.
Do my images get uploaded to a server?
No. The compressor runs entirely in your browser: the file is decoded, processed and written back on your own device, and no image data is sent anywhere. The only MiniPx feature that ever uploads a photo is Cloud HD, a Pro-only option on 7 AI tools — and the compressor is not one of them. You can verify it by disconnecting from the internet after the page has loaded — compression, conversion and resizing keep working. The three on-device AI tools (background remover, upscaler, passport photo maker) need one connection the first time you use them, to download their model; after that they run offline too, unless a Pro subscriber switches Cloud HD on for a run.
